Working Smarter

Hey there, if you are reading this it’s either because you have been following me for a while, or have been searching for handmade acrylic jewellery on the web and you’ve landed here.  So a quick introduction or reintroduction may be in order, I’m Jody,  the Lady in the  Lady And The Laser Beam. I’m a designer based in the High Peak that uses a laser cutter to predominantly make acrylic jewellery and homewares and everything else in between.

Today, I want to share a little a decision that’s been a while in the making - I'm about to shake things up and hopefully as a result level up. So, grab a brew, and I’ll let you in on what's coming next…

Over the past few years, I've been on an incredible ride, learning the ins and outs of running a small creative acrylic jewellery and laser cutting business. It's been a whirlwind of discovery, trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. But as the dust settles, I've realised that it's time for a change, a shift in the way I work in order to work smarter.

Like many self employed people, I often feel like I'm chasing my tail. Juggling home life and being every department in my own business, it can leave me struggling to find time for the solid creativity and product development that fuels my passion.

When I am focussed on the business, it's a mix of fulfilling orders, handling business admin, restocking for wholesale clients, and tackling commissioned pieces. And if there's a market event on the horizon, well, that can easily consume a week of preparation. Recently, I've even ventured into offering courses, something I've dreamt of doing for ages. But all these commitments have left me with precious little time for nurturing those creative projects that have been patiently waiting their turn.

So, here's the solution: I've made a promise to myself, and to my ace customers and clients. It's time to put the focus back on all the acrylic jewellery collections, homewares and ideas that have been hiding away on my trusty laptop. I'm in the process of crafting a release and work schedule for the next 12 months. This schedule will be the bedrock of my workflow, ensuring that these designs and creations make their way into world.

Some of these pieces might be familiar to you, as you've caught glimpses of them in the past when I’ve made one or two. Others are still in their digital cocoon, and a few have been swirling around in my mind for what feels like forever.

So, stay tuned and keep your eyes on my social media channels. If you want to be the first to know when pre-orders open for these new releases, make sure you don’t miss out and sign up to my Newsletter mailing list.  X
