F*ck Covid Earrings and how it all began

Covid has hit our household for the THIRD time, hooray! As a small business owner with no sick pay, and a 6 year old the isn't a containable human, it's not ideal. But it has forced some time away from the studio where I can skulk about in my dressing gown and tackle all the boring admin that has needed doing forever.

The Lady And The Laser Beam was born out of the pandemic. I was made redundant from my job in Media and figured it was now or never to give it a proper go. So using all my savings I bought my Laser Cutter and set up in a local mill and cracked on with no idea if it would work driven mainly by coffee and anxiety. It's been a winning recipe so far.

One of the first productsI made, and still one of my most popular earring designs are my interchangeable word hoops. Black acrylic earrings that you can mix and match to make up whatever phrase you are feeling that day.  Most often customers choose an initial pair, and then a few single earrings to go with it.

I wanted to make something fun in the face of all the stress we were all facing. A way to express how you felt on any given day, and actual statement earring.

So today is definitely a Fuck Covid day, after 2 years I was hoping the Covid earring wouldn't be relevant anymore, but here it is, in all it's glory being irritatingly still relevant. When I get that negative lateral flow - I can simply swap out the black acrylic "Covid" earring for a black acrylic "Yeah" earring and run out the house down to the studio with my T shirt over my head.

Check them out in my shop, there are non sweary versions for when you are around the younglings, and if you can't find what you want, head to the personalised earrings listings and I can make them for you. Some of the phrases you send me crack me up - keep bringing the smiles.
